Antelope Community Park

About The Project

MTWgroup was integral to both the creation of the Antelope Community Park Master Plan and subsequent redesign of park, adapting to the evolving needs of the surrounding area, particularly with the transition of its southern neighbor from a housing development to a high school.

During the original design phase, MTWgroup was deeply engaged in site and program analysis, taking into account community expectations and local regulations. The team crafted a detailed park site model, which was presented at a public meeting to elucidate the project's benefits and constraints. MTWgroup also led workshop groups, developed a preliminary master plan, and worked closely with the Antelope Park District to finalize the Master Plan, which received approval from the Antelope community.

The redesign process was driven by the need to accommodate the new high school adjacent to the park. MTWgroup responded by repositioning key park facilities to enhance their utility as joint-use spaces with the school. Notably, the swimming pool and tennis courts were relocated to central areas to better serve both the park and the school community. Additionally, a
cul-de-sac was introduced to facilitate access for emergency vehicles and provide entry to a spacious parking lot, designed to support the ball field areas and accommodate overflow for high school events. This thoughtful redesign ensured that the park continued to serve as a vibrant and functional community asset.
