About The Project

The UC Davis Health campus needed to enhance its educational and medical facilities with a new large-scale addition. MTWgroup was tasked with developing a comprehensive landscape plan for this prominent new facility which serves as the main classroom building.

A key element of the design was the main plaza, which features a distinctive concrete pattern throughout the hardscape. MTWgroup’s design incorporated an amphitheater, designed to function as an outdoor classroom space, enhancing the versatility and functionality of the plaza.

The layout included a unique circulation pattern to facilitate smooth movement and integrate seamlessly with the surrounding buildings. Safety and security were also top priorities in the design, given the plaza's extensive use, particularly after dark. MTWgroup’s plans addressed these concerns through strategic site lighting and thoughtful design choices.

Looking forward, MTWgroup developed a master plan for future expansion, incorporating additional connection points and ensuring the design could adapt for future growth. This forward-thinking approach ensures that the campus will continue to meet the needs of its users as it evolves.
